Our popular whale and dolphin watching boat trip is now available in Richard’s bay, under legal permit W04, and our very own Advantage Charter 11. From the end of May till the beginning of December the Humpback Whales migrate past the Kwazulu Natal Coastline , and our legal permit allows us to go as close as 50m’s from these gentle giants of the ocean. Bonus sightings of shark, flying fish, turtles and various species of dolphin is a possibility.
We depart from a safe jetty in the Tuzi Gazi small craft harbor of the Port of Richardsbay -it will take 15-20minute to get permission from Port Control to leave the harbor and go into the open ocean – please keep this in mind – IF the weather turns bad, we will cancel the cruise, and you will get a full refund.

Most tours are weather permitting and can be cancelled at the last minute by the skipper if he/she decides there is a safety factor at risk. If the operator cancels the tour due to unpleasant/unsafe weather conditions, you will be given a full refund.
Most tours have a minimum number of passengers before it is viable to go out to sea, please ask about this in good time.
Free Spirit Advantage Tours and Charters and its skippers, staff and guides will not accept any responsibility for any deaths, injury, or illness sustained or suffered by any person, or theft, loss or damage to any person or property whatsoever occurring within or from the use of the charterers vessels, vehicles or part thereof.
A much more convenient departure especially for people with kids, and more elderly people, as it is a ‘smoother’ harbor departure, and not a high energy surf launch.
For those people who LIVE in or around Richardsbay and want to be at the departure point themselves, it is at the TUZI GAZI WATERFRONT – directly in front of PORKY’s RESTAURANT.
For the guests that reside IN ST LUCIA TOWN and have to join our shuttle service bus taking you to Richardsbay, ( ST LUCIA – RICHARDSBAY 80km’s ) you have to meet at our WHALE OFFICE in St Lucia 1 x hour and 30 minutes prior to the trip booked, as it is a 1x hour and 15 min drive by-road shuttle to get to Richardsbay Harbor. Your shuttle service from ST LUCIA TOWN is INCLUDED in your ticket rate.
PLEASE ALWAYS REMEMBER, on an ocean excursion, you might get wet, you might get seasick, so PLEASE take precautions , dress comfortably but warm , and always bring an extra set of dry clothes and w towel, packet of biscuits, and bottle of water.
ANY electronic equipment you take on the ocean will be on your own risk.
